Former Director of Immigration Called To Trial For Corruption
Third Criminal Judge Adolfo Mejia decided to call the former Director of Immigration, Maria Cristina Gonzalez and five others to trial for the alleged forgery of 8 visas for citizens of Bangladesh and other nationalities. Against Gonzalez, the judge agreed with the prosecution on the alleged existence of crimes of corruption, forgery and influence peddling. The judge also called to trial Edy Sáez and Walkiria Gallardo, who are employees at Immigration, as well as the lawyers Yulissa Carrizo and Hildebrando Vallester. Charges against Janeth De Gil, Ángel Paz and Juan Carlos Miranda were provisionally dropped, people who work in the computer department at Immigration, because these three people were not present at their posts when the user was created to make the fake visas. Editor's Comment: Make a note. A former official of the Martinelli administration is being hauled to trial for corruption, while they are still in office. Normally, this sort of thing does not happen until after the next election.
