Doens Says The Government Has Their Hands In The PRD
This Wednesday, Aug. 1, the general secretary of the Democratic Revolutionary Party (PRD), Mitchell Doens, said in a news conference that some people close to the campaign of presidential candidate for his party, Juan Carlos Navarro, have been appointed to work for the Government (of Ricardo Martinelli). Doens accused of these people of being "mafiosas" adding the "seek to turn the Party into a Bebedero, but we should denounce it." Some of the names mentioned by the Secretary General are Abidel Villarreal, Navarro's campaign manager, and Nadia del Rio.
Editor's Comment: The PRD is getting ready to hold their convention on 26 August 2012, where 4,200 conventioneers will elect the new National Executive Committee (CEN) for the PRD. Navarro wants to replace Doens as the new Secretary General of the party, and word on the street is that he has the votes. Now against the ropes, Doens is trying to pull a rabbit out of his hat at the last minute. However it looks like Navarro will become the "Dinosaur Slayer" later this month, replacing the ancient ones who took the party over after Balbina Herrera's electoral defeat in 2009.
