TCT Protesters Return To Block La Prensa

At 9:45 am this Friday, August 3, vehicular traffic on Ave. 12 de Octubre, in front of La Prensa, was normalized after the street was closed for one hour by workers from the company Transcaribe Trading (TCT). The protest by the workers began this morning at 8:40 am, when the protesters arrived in a march. They even brought heavy equipment with them which they parked in front of the headquarters of the national newspapers La Prensa and Mi Diario.
During the early morning hours today, TCT workers blocked the entrances to the company. Although this measure was intended to prevent the departure of the newspapers for distribution, workers of this publishing house managed to get the copies out. Then, after the arrival of the President and officers of the National Police, the workers cleared the entries, after 1:30 am. (La Prensa)
Editor's Comment: Two things mixed here. The TCT workers first showed up late last night and tried to prevent the newspaper from being able to get today's edition out. The President and riot control police showed up, and they pulled back, clearing the entrances at about 1:30 am. Then, the workers returned this morning and blocked the street. Riot police returned, and the street was reopened. This situation continues, in front of La Prensa.
