U.S. Congressional Delegation Visits Panama

During the visit to Panama the delegation will meet with representatives from the Ministries of Public Security and Agriculture to discuss issues of regional security and agricultural interests. Additionally, the delegation will witness the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding for technical assistance between the University of Arkansas’s Division of Agriculture (Dale Bumpers College of Agriculture) and the Panamanian Ministry of Agricultural Development (MIDA in Spanish).
The U.S. delegation will have meetings with the Board of Directors of the American Chamber of Commerce and members of Panama’s Fulbright Alumni Association as well as other alumni that studied in the state of Arkansas. They will also have the opportunity to visit the Miraflores Locks and the Panama Canal expansion project. Following their visit to Panama the delegation will travel to Colombia.
Senator Mark Pryor (D-AR) graduated from the University of Arkansas and was elected to the Senate in 2003. He is a member of the Appropriations Committee and is the Chairman of the Commerce Subcommittee on Consumer Protection, Product Safety, and Insurance. He is a former Attorney General from Arkansas.
Senator John Boozman (R-AR) graduated from the University of Arkansas where he played football and earned a degree in optometry. He was elected to the Senate in 2010 and he previously served as the United States Representative for Arkansas's 3rd congressional district (2001–2011). Senator Boozman is the ranking Republican on the Senate Agriculture Subcommittee on Conservation, Forestry and Natural Resources.
Representative Rick Crawford (R-AR): is the U.S. Representative for Arkansas's 1st congressional district. He was elected in 2010. Before he was elected to Congress, Crawford was a radio announcer, businessman and U.S. Army veteran. He owned and operated the AgWatch Network, a farm news network heard on 39 radio stations in 5 states. (Press Release - US Embassy Panama)
