Customs Auctioning Off New Cars

Panama NewsThe National Customs Authority will hold an auction of new cars, in Divisa, province of Herrera on Friday August 24. For this process a 20% guarantee was set on the proposition value of each product, which will be received by the National Customs Authority not later than the day before the event date. The agency explains that the guarantees may be in cash, check, certified or cashier. The forms can be collected starting from Monday August 20 at the Customs offices in Panama City or Divisa at a cost of $2.00. This event is part of the activities being developed by the National Customs Authority as a prelude to the celebration of its fourth anniversary as an independent entity on 22 August. Editor's Comment: I checked the Customs website. There's no additional information with regard to the cars being auctioned, make, model, where they came from, etc. So, why is Customs going to be holding an auction of new cars? Were they seized or something like that? I have no idea, but will try to find out.
