Trial Against Mingthoy Giro For Disappearance Of Bronze Statues Started This Morning

At 8:30 am today, Monday August 27, began the hearing for alleged offenses against public administration, against the former administrator of the Omar Park, Mingthoy Giro, the former director of Historic Heritage Domingo Varela, the former SPI officials and former government officials Jaime Salgado, Hector del Cid, Marino José Moreno, Marco Aparicio, Rolando Vásquez and Erick Murillo.

The hearing is being conducted by the Second Criminal Judge Johan Barrios, over the disappearance of 42 bronze statues called the "Games of Yesteryear" which disappeared from the park's amphitheater.

The Second Anti Corruption Prosecutor Lissete Chevalier has sought a trial against Mingthoy Giro for alleged negligent embezzlement, and has requested a provisional dismissal of charges against the former director of historical heritage, Domingo Varela.

The prosecutor has also called for a trial for theft and abuse of office against the six other people who are involved. So far the complainant and the prosecutor have spoken, and it is expected that each of the defense attorneys will speak for about an hour. (Mi Diario)
