La Casa de Baterias "Guarantee" comes with strings

CAVEAT EMPTOR: I purchased a brand new battery from La Casa de Baterias, four months and 1 week ago. I have purchased at least four batteries from this company so far, mainly because of the convenience (they come to you) and the guarantee. This is the first time I have tried to use the guarantee. And now they say that I need to pay over $16 for them to come out to "examine" the battery. Or I could come to them, but of course, I would have to jump the battery to do so. Not much of a guarantee, if you ask me. I just wanted to share my story with others. I certainly won't give La Casa de Baterias any more of my business!

Editor's Comment: Just to get this straight - if you can get your car running, you can go to the Casa de las Baterias, and they will replace the battery free of charge. They only want to charge you the $16 bucks for a service call. Sorry dude, but that seems fair to me. Also, they have to determine why the battery died. Was the battery at fault, or is your car broke? If the alternator is not properly charging the battery, then you can swap batteries all day long and it won't fix your problem. My opinion, for what it's worth. I use these guys all the time, and there's no better service in Panama. Panama's hot tropical environment is particularly "tough" on batteries and they tend to die sooner that you might expect. You might decide to not give the Casa de Baterias any more of your business, but where else are you going to go?
