Martinelli Tours Construction At New Rio Hato Airport in Cocle

Infrastructure UpgradesPresident Ricardo Martinelli, with the Minister of Public Works, James Ford, conducted an inspection of the project area to build a tunnel for the Pan American Highway to run under the runway of the new Scarlett Martinez airport in Rio Hato. Martinelli also toured the rest of the project area, and the rehabilitation of the airport. "The airport, which will open in July 2013, is going to make the province of Cocle one of the mightiest in Panama, generating thousands of jobs jobs for tourism, agriculture and real estate," said Martinelli. The construction work is being performed by the company MECO, SA, at a cost of $35.9 million dollars.
