Two Brothers Arrested in the Darien With 316 Kilos of FARC Cocaine

Drug TraffickingTwo Panamanian brothers were arrested with 316 packets of cocaine on Isla Cedro, in the Darien. "It is possible that both detainees are related to a cartel of the FARC," said Frank Abrego, Director of the State Border Service. The 316 packages of cocaine were within 16 sacks and were abandoned by the brothers, after the wooden "cayuco" (dugout canoe) in which they were traveling ran aground on the island, and they tried to escape.

In another action, residents reported that between the communities of Pinogana and Yavisa police officers found an additional 21 packages of cocaine that was part of the 115 packages that had been found the week before. (Mi Diario)
