Stand up for Kids founder accused of sexually assaulting a child in Aurora

By Ryan Parker - The Denver Post - Aurora police have arrested Richard Lee Koca, Sr., the founder of Stand up for Kids, for allegedly sexually assaulting a child he was supervising in Aurora. Koca, 69, currently serves on the board of directors for the organization, police said.
Aurora police began their investigation into Koca on Aug. 29 and identified a single juvenile victim; however, due to Koca's extensive contact over the past several decades with minors through his work with several non-profits primarily serving children, there may be other victims, police said.
Stand up for Kids is a national non-profit volunteer outreach organization for at-risk homeless youth, which Koca founded in 1990, according to the group's website.
Koca is a retired naval officer who spent 30 years in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in and visited various locations around the U.S. and world, including Panama, police said.
It was reported to investigators that during his time in Panama, Koca was the Scout Master for a Boy Scouts of America program and during his time in England, he volunteered at an orphanage that has yet to be identified, police said.
Koca was also involved in Explorer scout programs in San Diego, police said.
