Editor's Comment: Wow. The hearing was held yesterday in Penonome, under the new Accusatory system. The judge accepted the case, and gave the anti corruption prosecutor six months to complete her investigation and to bring the case to trial. De Janón allegedly offered Alonso $100,000 and 1,000 bags of food in exchange for him changing to either the CD or MOLIRENA political party, and for signing up new party members. De Janón was basically caught red handed in the an office of the National Assembly by Panameñista party members, as he was making the offer to Alonso. The prosecution claims to have taped telephone conversations, as well as a witness statement from the pilot who flew De Janón from Panama City to Penonome. De Janón had been credited as being one of the people responsible for convincing people to switch from the Panameñista party to MOLIRENA.
