The lawyers for the brothers David y Daniel Ochy Diez, from the firm Castillo, Moreno & Asociados, concluded in the civil action that La Prensa caused personal and moral damage to their clients, "attributing them, nationally and internationally, with offensive links to murky and irregular facts and situations." Consequently, the brothers demanded $2 million each for moral damages, $500,000 each for actual damages, and another $ 2 million for damage to Panaplátanos.
This is an ordinary civil proceeding for a large amount that is pending.
In the articles referred to the lawsuit, titled "The Business Behind The Invasion Of Land", "Banana Farms, Big Business With Lands Of Barú", and "Land Titles In Barú, Chiriquí, The Business Behind The Conflict" became a historical account of land titling in the banana zone of Baru, based on testimony from several sources, including the manager of AST Barú Panaplátanos and farmers in the area.
In addition, for each of the publications made by La Prensa, they repeatedly asked for their version of events, which, however, they chose to not provide a response. (Prensa)
