President Ricardo Martinelli might call for special sessions of the National Assembly to choose the new judge of the Supreme Court in December 2012. "We have to see how the legislative agenda develops, and then decide whether to convene or not," he said this afternoon. The new judge will replace AnÝbal Salas, who is in the Second Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court.

When asked about the lack of anesthesia machines in the Hospital Arnulfo Arias Madrid, the president asked for patience. "I have understood they are renting machines to solve the problem, so I ask for a little patience," said the president. He said he has no doubt that the director of the Social Security Fund (CSS), Guillermo Saez Llorens will solve this problem as he has done with others.

Martinelli's statements were made during a ceremony to hand over land titles to people in Tocumen. (Panama America)

Editor's Comment: Ah, so Martinelli gets another seat on the Supreme Court in December. That explains why there were rumors floating around that the Supreme Court would wait until later to appoint a replacement to the Electoral Tribunal, and not necessarily do it in November when Solis leaves the bench. They were probably thinking about waiting for the newly appointed CD vote.
