PRD Will Hold Presidential Primary Elections On 3 February 2013

PoliticsThe opposition Democratic Revolutionary Party (PRD) will hold their primary elections on Sunday, 3 February 2013, to elect their presidential candidate for the next national general election to be held in Panama in May 2014. The PRD has a number of candidates who would like to obtain the nomination to the presidency, however, the current General Secretary of the PRD Juan Carlos Navarro is seen as one of the strongest political figures.

The Panameńista party has already announced they will hold their primary elections on Sunday, 17 March 2013. In this party the current Vice President of Panama Juan Carlos Varela, who is also the President of the party, is the favorite.

Meanwhile, the ruling Democratic Change political party has not yet decided the date of their internal primary elections. So far the front runner is the Minister of Social Development Guillermo Ferrufino. (Estrella)
