Rescue Efforts Continue At Quebrada Ancha Mudslide Site

WeatherToday for the fourth day continues the search operation to locate the rescuers from the Panamanian Red Cross, Jorge Alemán and Fernando Johnson, who have been missing since the car in which they were travelling was swept away in a mudslide when the Boyd Roosevelt Highway (Transistmica) collapsed at Quebrada Ancha, in the province of Colon.

Red Cross staff, firefighters and other Government institutions are involved in the rescue efforts, with the use of bulldozers and other equipment to dig the earth and to locate the car in which the two Red Cross officers were traveling.

It was learned that the six Mexican rescuers are already in Panama, and it is expected they will join the rescue efforts this afternoon.

In addition, eleven rescuers from Costa Rica have also confirmed their participation in the work. (Critica)
