Contributed by: Don WinnerBy DON WINNER for Panama-Guide.com - I'm going to be attending a conference today - the 1st International Business Roundtable on Sustainable Forestry in Panama. It looks like it's going to be an all day event, which means I'm not going to be in the office to produce the daily news video. If you've subscribed over the weekend and are waiting for a password I'll try to get that taken care of as soon as possible. Normally new subscribers get their accounts and passwords within 24 hours, but that can extend a bit on a Sunday and in this case a little more. Also, if you've sent me your property to be listed, the response was tremendous, and I'm working through a backlog so please have a little patience. News, subscribers, real estate, and teak. Yeah, I can get a little busy sometimes. Hey, it's a whole lot better than the alternative.
In the news the only real big headline over the weekend was that the Panameņista party confirmed and validated Juan Carlos Varela as their presidential candidate. And even that's not a headline because he really didn't have a serious challenger. Only about 25% of those eligible to vote turned out, because there was nothing to decide. So we now have two out of three presidential candidates officially confirmed for the May 2014 election. The only real interesting primary election is the CD which will be held in Mat 2013.
The rest of the news from the weekend was a handful of routine stories about car crashes, drug busts, and sports (typical for a weekend) but nothing earth shattering. I'll be back in the saddle by tomorrow morning at the latest. Have a great day.
