6 Earthquakes In Chiriquí In Less Than 48 Hours

EarthquakesIn the last 48 hours there have been six earthquakes in the province of Chiriquí, according to reports from the Institute of Geo-sciences of the University of Panama, as well as the Civil Protection System (NSCP).

The last earthquake was recorded yesterday, Monday 22 April 2013, at 9 am with a magnitude of 4.1 on the Richter scale and its epicenter was recorded south of Puerto Armuelles in the district of Barú.

Two other earthquakes were recorded today, one at 1:59 am, with a magnitude of 3.8 and another at 3:42 am, of 3.0 on the Richter scale with its epicenter both southeast of Puerto Armuelles.

While the previous three were recorded on Saturday at 2:56 am, the first of 3.1, the second 3.7 and the third of 3.5 on the Richter scale.

The director of Civil Protection System, Abelardo Serrano notes that no residents of the area were reported hurt as a result of these earthquakes. (Dia A Dia)
