Panama Won The Little League Baseball World Series

Sports SectionThe baseball team from Chitre in Herrera, representing Latin America, won the Little League Baseball World Series after defeating Pennsylvania 2 to 1, thanks in the most part to Javier Garcia.

Panamanians were losing at the beginning when the U.S. team scored their only run at the end of the fourth episode with Joe Zorelli.

However, the team from Herrera scored two runs at the beginning of the sixth episode with Abel Gallardo and Abel Frías, and left the scoreboard as it ended, 2 to 1.

This is the second time that a team from Panama wins the Little League Baseball World Series. In 2000 the team from Curundu won, led by Martín Crespo.

Edgardo Sandoval, Rafael De león and Abel Gallardo, scored two hits in three turns.

Javier García pitched the full seven innings. (Prensa)
