The First Lady, Marta Linares de Martinelli, said this activity was organized to support four different organizations for animals who work with bare necessities, due to the lack of supplies, caring for and sterilizing pets.
During this event, they request people to help by providing food for dogs and cats, collars and leashes, sheets, antibacterial soaps, syringes, toys, trash bags, as well as shovels.
At the same time they will be giving animals on adoption, which is why people interested in adopting must bring along their water or electricity bill and give a donation of $15 or $20.
The campaign takes place after several unfortunate events in which dogs have been stabbed, shot at and burnt with hot water.
Ms. Martinelli said Law 70 from 2013 is in force, which punishes animal mistreatment, therefore she recommends the people to report any related incident before the Police, representatives and the Ministry of Agricultural Development. (TVN)
