Approximately 3 thousand expired products and without their expiration date were seized during the weekend by the Authority for Consumer Protection and Competition Defense (ACODECO) from several businesses in Chiriqui.

The authorities from Acodeco expressed their concern due to the large amount of expired products they found that are aimed for the consumption of children such as chocolate, candy, cookies, juice, and so on.

Alexis Ortega, director of Acodeco, said not only children could have been affected with the expired candy, because they also found rice—a basic product in Panama—full of maggots.

These operations were carried out in Rio Sereno and David. (Telemetro)
