The Institute of Geosciences of the University of Panama reported on the possibility of a great magnitude earthquake to be recorded in Chiriqui.
The information was disclosed by the director of the institute, Eduardo Camacho, who said this could be due to the number of seismic movements recorded so far this year in this province.
Camacho said it's possible a strong earthquake to be registered in the future because Chiriqui is a highly seismic zone.
He further emphasized many buildings in the province do not meet modern standards of earthquake-resistant construction, this buildings are vulnerable to a natural event of this nature.(TVN)
