Earthquake Shakes Pacific Coast of Panama

EarthquakesAn earthquake measuring 4.6 on the open-ended Richter scale shook the Pacific coast of Panama, near Coiba Island, the Geoscience Institute at Panama University reported.

The quake struck Wednesday, about 78 km to the west/southwest of Coiba Island, off the coast of Veraguas and about 252 km west of Panama City.

The epicenter was located at a depth of 23.4 km and there were no reports of casualties or damage, the Institute said.
