No worries, Don. A person who was really acquainted with Canadian Law ( i.e. its application rather than being a target of it) would not use the word "felony". He would use "indictable offence", and before any offence can be established, there must be evidence of "mens rea" (a guilty mind) In other words there must be an intent to do an illegal act, and the mere publishing of the facsimile of a passport, or the copying of a passport does not constitute an offence unless it was done for an illegal purpose - such as impersonation. To publish the facsimile in the hope that it will allow a Canadian citizen to be traced fulfills the Criminal Code requirement that a citizen is duty bound to assist the police when called upon to do so. |
