The MOP Will Open The Via Brazil Corridor - Calle 50 Overpass

Today, From 11am, the Via Brazil Corridor - Calle 50 overpass will be opened in order to minimize the traffic congestion recorded in the sector during the holidays.

The route will be opened from the Credicorp Bank building all the way up to Doit Center, as reported in a press release from the FCC company and the Ministry of Public Works (MOP).

The MOP explained the route will be enabled until January 2nd.(Panama America)

National Police Provides Medical Care To Indigent People In El Chorrillo

Moncada Luna Is Not Thinking On Being Reelected As President Of The Supreme Court

Dengue Serotype 2 Is Circulating In The Country

Today, Lourdes Serrano from the Ministry of Health (MINSA) said despite the increase in dengue cases, people is not cooperating in the eradication of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito.

Serrano said serotype 2 is circulating, this is a more aggressive and resistant type of dengue, so it is important to have the support of the citizens to keep the environment clean.

So far there are 2386 cases without warning signs, 7 serious cases and 2 deaths.

Serrano also said the police will be giving fines from $10 to $50, and sanctions might go up to $5000 for second offenders.(Dia a Dia)

Dead Body Found In Juan Diaz

Yesterday, the dead body of a man was found in rotten condition at the pier of Llano Bonito, in Juan Diaz.

A group of workers found the body and immediately contacted the authorities.

The National Police arrived to the scene and they're currently investigating the case.(La Critica)

2 Subjects Arrested For Cutting Down A Cocobolo Tree In Los Santos

Two people were arrested by members of the National Police after being caught cutting down a 100 year old Cocobolo tree.

This event occurred in the community of La Mina in the province of Los Santos, where the subjects were spotted and tried to flee the scene.

Member of the National Environmental Authority (ANAM) arrived to the scene and raised a technical report to confirm the extent of the damage as this species is protected.

Now the two men will have to go through a criminal process with the public prosecutor and an administrative process with the ANAM.(TVN)

Landslide Reported In Capira

Yesterday, several communities of the Capira district were left uncommunicated after a heavy rain fell in the afternoon and provoked a landslide.

The Municipality of the district arrived and managed to remove the land and several tree branches from the place using heavy equipment.

The communities affected product of this situation are Ollas Arriba, Caimitillo, El Cacao, among others.

Public Offices Will Labor Until Noon On Holidays

Because of the celebration of Christmas and New Year, public offices will labor until noon on December 24th and 31st.

This is because of the Executive Decree 873 of December 13th 2013, from the Ministry of Government, signed by President Martinelli and the holder of the portfolio in question, Jorge Ricardo Fabrega.

This provision exempts the offices of the IDAAN, health institutions (hospitals, clinics, polyclinics, health centers and health units of both the CSS and the MINSA), postal services, Fire Department , National Immigration Service, the National Police and The Panama Canal Authority (ACP).

It also clarifies the terms in administrative proceedings will be suspended on December 24th and 31st of this year, according to the provisions of Title V of the Act 38 of July 31st, 2000.(Dia a Dia)

IDAAN Finished Pipe Repair Works In Brisas Del Golf

Martinelli Gave Out Digital Cable Boxes In Colon

Today, the President of the Republic, Ricardo Martinelli, gave out the first digital cable boxes to 200 families in Colon, so they can for watch local TV channels.

"We will give everyone with an analog TV their own digital box," Martinelli wrote on his twitter account.

The selected families, were taken into account by their low social status and economic resources.
