By DON WINNER for Panama-Guide.com - I recently picked up a slightly used Street Pilot III GPS and had a detailed GPS map of Panama map from Steve Magaric's Panama-Zone.com loaded. This is simply the best GPS mapping product currently available for Panama. I go all over the place and have been playing with the routing feature, "Go 400 feet and turn left, arriving at destination on right." Very cool. I like electronic toys anyway so this thing is right down my alley. Contact Steve if you want a copy of his map, and as far as I know he has the only good GPS map available for Panama. Again, excellent stuff.

Don; Here is the latest version of the map. You can now search for roads, towns, POI’s and suburbs etc. You can print as PDF, PNG etc also. Regards, Steve Panama Zone (Editor's Comment: Very nice. Allows user to zoom down to 1:3500 resolution, easily capture screen shots, pans quickly enough with good bandwidth, accurate and up to date. Very nice map, Steve. Thanks. The scroll wheel is kinda touchy. I hit it by accident and zoomed out three clicks. Also, I'm spoiled by Google Earth - any chance of getting geo-coords from a mouse-over?)

By Steve Magaric for Panama-Zone.com - I have just released a new pricing structure on the GPS map of Panama. The full version including lifetime updates is still available for $299.00 and a new edition for $149.00 without updates. Updates will be $39.00 each. I also have a few second hand Garmin Street Pilot III’s for $399.00 and these come preloaded with the GPS map. The map is suitable for Garmin GPS receivers or PC’s and Handhelds with the appropriate software. The map features over 1100 points of interest including most police, fire and gas stations and a selection of restaurants, attractions and more. The map covers roads, rivers, parks, towns and traffic lights of the entire country and is routable with voice navigation on units supporting this feature. The map is available from the on-line store at www.panama-zone.com. Screenshots can be viewed here. If you would like more info, please contact me directly. Regards, Steve Magaric, Panama Zone

I scrounge through the Internet every day looking for interesting things about Panama. Every now and then I run into sports articles that usually talk talk about the "Panama Girls Softball Team Wins in Last Minute Upset Over the Hooters" or something like that. Everyone knows about Panama (the one with the canal) and Panama City, Florida (spring-break) but did you know there is a Panama, Oklahoma? Population 1,396 (est. for 2005), and close to the Fort Smith, Arkansas mega-plex, they are just South of Cowlington on 59, and North of Shady Point. And in case those nice folks of Panama ever happen to run into this website, you should know that I'm following your high school sports teams rather closely.

This photo map shows the locations of the Hippodromo (Horse Racing Track), the Rommel Fernandez Soccer Stadium, where the most important games are played, and the Roberto Duran Stadium, which is mainly a boxing venue. Lately most of the big fights have been happening at the Figal Convention Center. See below for the map.

What a cool tool. Hit this link, and it will take you to a site where you can look up obscure placenames in Panama and see where they are on a map. This is very nice... http://www.fallingrain.com/world/PM/8/

Here's a link to a great bird's eye view map of Panama City and the surrounding area. Be forewarned that the file is about 1.5 MB's in size, so it takes awhile to download on a dialup... http://www.ilisa.com/panama/map-bird-ey-mid.htm
